Casualties With Local Connections

When we commenced our research the principle objective was to identify the men who were named on the Dewsbury Cenotaph, many of whom were also named on War Memorials in churches and neighbouring towns and villages and even further afield in countries of the Commonwealth.

We found however, that just over a hundred men including five sets of two brothers and one of three brothers who had links to the Dewsbury Borough were named in the records of the Commonwealth War Graves Commission and whilst some of them would appear on other memorials as stated above, we believe that it would be appropriate to display their CWGC Certificate which would identify them and their connection to the Borough.
